Old Dogs New Tricks pride themselves in the quality of their shows which are different for every performance. They take a lot of time and have invested a lot of money in high quality equipment and backing tracks to ensure that they get their individual sound to each track - Jill’s voice & harmonies plus Bob’s harmonies and guitar playing.

Many hours are spent in the recording studio customising their backing tracks which are unique to Old Dogs New Tricks. Why use backing tracks? Simple answer because venues are not prepared to pay enough for a live band! Old Dogs New Tricks are full time professional musicians with no other sources of income and therefore unfortunately cannot afford to employ 3 additional musicians which is a great pity as they performed as a live 5 piece band in the UK before they moved to Tenerife.

Bob & Jill come from professional backgrounds and have many years of experience in sales, marketing, presentation skills and customer services. This has resulted in them building up strong relationships with their audiences, many of whom return to see them night after night, year after year and become good friends. Indeed they regularly receive emails asking them to confirm that they will be appearing before people book their holidays. Every night brings a different show and a familiar face returning to catch up with the band.

Outside of the band Bob & Jill spend their time looking after their rescued dogs and cats , maintaining their house and gardens and sleeping. Jill also spends many hours over a hot sewing machine making both her & Bob's individually styled stage outfits.

Jill - vocals and acoustic guitar

After spending her formative years treading the boards in theatres around the UK and the States, singing in musicals by Rogers & Hammerstein and Cole Porter, Jill moved into the real world of earning a living Corporate style. Some years later, and still with stars in her eyes, she met Bob and was launched into the world of rock music. Her early classical training (3 years at Guildhall in London studying music and drama) and her preference for water has earned Jill the nickname of "the Julie Andrews of rock". However 16 years of rocking the stages of smoky pubs and clubs have changed her voice from a sweet singing soprano into a raunchy baritone. Recent reviews of the band describe Jill as "a spunky female vocalist who adds a sense of fun and style to the songs they cover". Universally loved by all, she is the pillar of the band's public relations effort. During breaks and at the end of gigs she can always be found chatting up the crowd. (While Bob and Maureen - their trusty Roadie are left to pack up the kit.) Occasionally she can even be persuaded to sing the correct lyrics at the appropriate time - but no guarantees. Jill's other claim to fame is that she thought up the name for the band. In retrospect, a terrible choice that has come back to haunt her - think about it.

Bob "Boogie"– guitar (electric & acoustic) and vocals

At an age when most sensible people are starting to contemplate retirement, Bob had a dream – he wanted to be a rock star. Aided and abetted by two great mates - bass player, the late Eddie Quinn – ex of Mungo Jerry and lead guitarist and general rock tart Keith Rosetti, he took faltering steps onto the stage with the Rosettis, a well-known local Blues/R&B band based in Surrey. (Bob claims to have known four chords by this time.) Nine months later he formed his own band - Old Dogs New Tricks. Over the next 5 years they took the south of England by storm playing classic rock and R&B in pubs, clubs and marquees. Due to encouragement and coaching from Jill he has even been known to sing a few numbers in tune.

Bob & Jill decided after much research and heart searching to completely change their life style and location. They made the not so tough decision to give up corporate life, company politics, commuting and the English weather and moved to sunny Tenerife. That was pretty easy. The toughest decision was having to leave not just their families but the rest of the band behind (and even tougher the groupies!).
